Legal Question in Constitutional Law in North Carolina

The Register of Deeds office here in Wilmington NC has a bench in the hallway of their building. Is there any law that prevents me from sitting on that bench and doing a crossword puzzle? I mean it is a public building. I'm not doing anything illegal such as drinking alcohol or being disorderly, only sipping on a cup of coffee and doing the New York Times crossword.
