Legal Question in Constitutional Law in North Carolina
Secession
Is secession legal? Because I heard over 20 states have sovereignty bills that might end up with states seceding

Re: Secession
No state has the authority to secede from the union. The Constitution is silent about secession, so there is no mechanism by which a state could secede. The Constitution could be amended to allow secession, but this would require the approval of two-thirds of the House, two-thirds of the Senate and three-quarters of the states. That isn't going to happen anytime soon.
