Legal Question in Consumer Law in North Carolina
I have a car in my name and the loan. My ex girlfriend has the car and moved to another state. She paid the down payment and made payments but is behind now. What rights do I have as the loan signer?

You need to make the payments yourself to avoid further damage to your credit rating and continue to make the payments on time. If the car is titled in your name only, you have a right to possess the car because you are the legal owner. You should consult with an attorney in the state where she resides if she will not voluntarily give the car back to you. If she won't give you the car and doesn't make the payments, you will need to bring legal action against her to get the car back.
