Legal Question in Consumer Law in North Carolina
My husband has been getting harassing calls and letter from a collection agency in California for the wrong person. Same name spelled differently and a different social security number. He has called 3 times and left messages telling them that they were calling and sending information to the wrong person. They sent information a while back with this person information and social security number and my husband called and left a message and told them they were sending someones personal information to the wrong person. I discarded it because we thought when we called and explained that, they would quit. We can never get a person, only voicemail. Today we had a message stating that this was the last chance. I don't know how they would have gotten out telephone number and address when he is the wrong person. What do we need to do to stop this harassment?

If I was getting the calls, I would get all the information I could of the company calling and then consider bringing a lawsuit against them.
