my son a first time car buyer unknowley purchased a car with a book value of 6000.00 at Drive Time in NC they charged 13,000.00 for car he was going to trade it in on another car lot when checked payoff on car was 20,000.00 they had added finance charges to the total is this legal

It is legal and is why people have to be careful when financing cars. Drivetime always overcharges for their cars.
