Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

I had an account that was turned over to a collection agency and made an agreement to make payments each month. This company told me that the bank didn't like the agreement I had with the collection agency and they have been charging me interest and put my status as delinquent even though I have been paying for over a year. Can they do that?

Did you get it in writing? The collection agency should not be making deals that are not approved of by the bank. However, this does not sound right. The bank just cannot make up things.

You are delinquent though if this went to a debt collection agency and paying the collection agency for a year does not change that fact. Whether inrerest or not can be charged depends on your settlement with the collection agency.
