Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

I took out a cash advance in 2009 and b/c they did not collect the funds, they are saying they can get a civil and criminal charge against me b/c it is a felony in NC b/c it was check fraud. I did not do that on purpose, the bank closed my account b/c someone stole my account information and we had to close that particular bank account. Is this possible?

Payday loans have been illegal in NC since before 2009. You need to provide more information concerning if this was an Internet loan or an in person loan.
