You need to file a written answer with the Clerk on or before the 30th day after you were served. What you say in the written answer depends on a lot of things - like how old the debt is, did you dispute any of the charges, and so forth. It is best to at least talk to a lawyer before answering a lawsuit, or have a lawyer help you prepare an answer.
