Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina
How do i get copies court document, records from 1994 case? I reside in MI, however, case was heard in NC.
Will i have to pay for these copies, if so, general figure?
If it makes any difference, my case references child custody. I signed rights over to my parents whom have since renigged and had me arrested for arrearages. I never got copies of the hearing, didn't think I'd need them, as it was my mother and father.
I need copies to establish reasons i did not make attempts. I make monthly installments, have done so for years now, only to be arrested and license suspended again!
Any sage advice?

Contact the clerk of court. The cost will depend on the the number of pages. Find out what you need copied and the cost. You will then have to arrange to send a letter, with a return addressed stamped envelope big enough to cover the copies and a money order to cover the cost. Copying at the courthouse is sometimes more expensive than taking to a copy place. If this is in Onslow County - the cost looks like it is 10 cents a page. I don't know how many pages you need,
I don't understand what you are trying to do. Did you just sign over custody to your parents? Was there a court order? Or did your parents try to adopt?
I don't know what you mean by your parents reneging. On what? If your parents had custody only then you were still required to support the child. Was there an order for child support and did you pay it? How else could you be arrested for arrearages?
I don't see how these documents will help in regard to child support. If you owe arrearages then your only option is to pay. If the arrearages are not correct, then you will have to get a family law attorney in Onslow or whatever county this hearing took place in (again, if you signed your rights over to your parents, I am not sure why a hearing would be held unless they needed a court order).
