Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

I co-signed for an auto loan for my daughter in north Carolina with a credit union. She also had a credi card that she racked up some bills on and was unable to pay due to a hospitalization- the credit union is refusing to accept car payments from me until they talk with her, citing cross collateral something or other- can they prevent me from paying the car note legally as a cosigner?

Depends on the terms and conditions in the loan agreement. If you co-signed for a loan you should have asked for a copy of the agreement for your records. May be time for you to consult with a debt collection defense attorney to review your rights, obligations, and options.
