Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

I am being taken to court for a credit card debt. I filed my answer acknowledging the debt, but I was signed up with a company called Freedom Debt Relief, who I gave extra money to begin negotiations with the creditor. They never called or reached out with a settlement offer. Some time passed and I finally realized that they weren't actually doing what they were supposed to do. So I paid the debt but I still have a hearing date. What should I expect during the hearing? I'm also being sued, understandably, for attorney's fees. This is in North Carolina.

You should consult a consumer attorney immediately to see if you need (and still have time) to change course in your litigation strategy. You may have legal claims against the Freedom Debt Relief if they failed to provide the services they promised and for which you paid. Bottom line: Consult an attorney ASAP.
