Debt Notification

In a Civil Complaint against me, the Plaintiff said that ''Demand for payment'' had been made. My question is , what is ''legal'' demand for payment?

Re: Debt Notification

There is no one "legal" form of demand for payment, unless the creditor wants to recover attorneys' fees in addition to the amount of the debt. Attorney's fees are recoverable if there was a written agreement providing for collection of attorneys fees in the event of default. Most creditors, collection agencies, and creditor's lawyers prudently send something in writing identifying the name of the creditor, stating the total amount you owe, and what he will do if you immediately make arrangements for payment.
