Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

We are currently in default on a Discover Card debt - it is not likely that we can repay it - there are many other debts as well and with the economic conditions as they are, we are borrowing from relatives just to stay afloat. Discover has sent a sherriff to our house to deliver a documents stating that they will begin seizing property in 20 days - can they do that and if so, what is taken and how?

Thanks

Please do not ignore this. It sounds like Discover already sued you and won. This is your chance to claim exemptions. Read the forms carefully and fill them out and return them to the Clerk of Court within 20 days of the day you were served. You should also mail a copy to the Plaintiff's attorney. Seek assistance asap if you don't understand.
