Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina
My doctors office recently sent a 14 yr old bill to a collection agency. I was fully insured at that time and there should be no monies owed. I have no record of any transactions that far back so what can I do to make them stop contacting me and prevent from going on my credit report?

Sounds like statute of limitations should have run. Write letter indicating not only do you dispute debt but that statute of limitations has long since run and that you will bring a lawsuit if they take any further action including placing it on your credit report. Send the letter certified mail return receipt and save the return receipt card.
