This is not a credit, debt and collections question. It is a real estate question and you would be better advised to seek out a real estate attorney.

Taxes run with the property. You may have to pay them and go after the prior owner, whether it be then bank or the property owner. Why weren't these paid at the time of closing? You need to see the real estate attorney who handled your closing if you bought the home. If you got the home at a foreclosure sale, why was it foreclosed? Why did not the bank pay, if it was a foreclosure on the mortgage? Or was it some other kind of foreclosure?
