Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

hospital bill

I was in FCI Butner when a inmate knocked me out.They took me to a hospital.The inmate who done this said he did it and I did nothing to prevoke him.Now I am out and checked my credit report and it has a $3,329 bill from the hospital.Am I responsible for the payment?If not what should I do to get this off my credit report?

You need to post this to North Carolina attorneys, the debt was incurred in North Carolina, and California attorneys cannot advise you on the laws of North Carolina.
