Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina
If someone is incarcerated and has restitution fees that are of a large sum is there a way to remove or reduce that debt.

This is not a collection issue. Its a criminal law issue and you need to speak to your criminal law attorney about it. Usually, the court will set you up on some kind of payment plan if you are not able to make your payments. I have not heard of the court remitting restitution either, but I do not do criminal law. The debts are not dischargeable in bankruptcy.
