No. We do not have debtors prison any more and you cannot go to jail for ordinary debts (assuming no other criminality, like obtaining goods or services by false pretenses). That said, as the economy continues to be bad, I have seen inventive debt collectors in other states that have had people locked up and have even set up fake courtrooms! Thankfully, that has not happened in NC yet.

You need to try and get this resolved though if it is your debt.
