What happens after you have filed for your Exemptions? What time frame is involved before you hear something else?

Once you filed, then it is really up to the Creditor. They can start the execution procedure and the Sheriff will attempt to execute. If they don't agree with the way you filled out the exemptions, they can request a hearing or bring other supplemental proceedings to discover assets. I am guessing in many cases, they will try to execute at least one time and see if the Sheriff gets any money.
