Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

i have a old loan and credit card that i wasnt able to pay on because i lost my income and the bank closed and wrote them off on my credit report ,but now they are trying to sue me for all of that what are my opptions and can they sue me if theyve allready closed and written off the accounts
