Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

My question is that I need legal help which I was going through a diffucult time and was short on funds so I did the online payday loans and now im getting very threating phone calls and on my job which is causing problems for me at work and the callers doesn't let me explain the situation they say they have send papers to address and email to me and I have not recieved anything they ask me I like to resovle the matter outside of court and I would say I would get legal help so that's when the get very threating and not willing to work with me I need help with tis matters I don't know what to do and I don't know how to handle this I need help

Oh no. No matter how desperate you are, never do a payday loan. Those people are worse than the mafia.

My advice is just because they call does not mean you need to answer the phone. If they call your home, get caller id or take messages via an answering machinge. If you don't have an answering machine, work out a signal with friends and family so you will know when to pick up and answer. Most cell phones have voicemail and will display the number that is calling. If you don't recognize it or its an out of state area code, do not answer and they will leave you a message.

Most payday lenders will not sue. Also, they are not located in NC and some may even be overseas. With the internet, its easy to use skype or some other service to make it look like they have a US number but they might be in India or elsewhere. In such case, laugh at them because there is NO way they are going to hire an NC lawyer to sue you, And don't believe their threats. They will not have you arrested or whatever other nonsense they come up with.

If they are really unnerving you, then contact the NC attorney general's office and they will help you for free.
