Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

Serving Summons at old address

My daughter defaulted 2 yrs ago on Discover card. She is married now and lives in another state. Got a letter from an attorney that a civil suit has been filed, but have'nt served summons yet. When they come to serve the summons, can I refuse to accept since she no longer resides here and do I have to volunteer contact/relation information? The debt was incurred before she was married, but can her husband be held responsible?

Her husband should not be responsible and I doubt they would have sued him. I don't think you need to accept the summons if she no longer resides there.
