is my wife responsable for my hospital bill ? she is also named in law suit

Yes. Spouses are liable for each other's medical debts under the "doctrine of necessaries." Necessaries are things like food, shelter or medical care.

So I am afraid that she is equally liable even if you signed yourself in.

The best thing to do is either try and resolve the debt or file bankruptcy, although I have not seen the paperwork and don 't know if you have any valid defenses or not.

When were you served? You have 30 days to object, file a motion for more time or answer the complaint. If you have no grounds to object, file a motion for more time as it will buy you an extra 30 days to have this reviewed by a lawyer or allow you to get to a bankruptcy attorney.
