Did you get written permission? If not, then its your word against theirs. I don't understand the question though.

What is the point and why are they riled up about this now? The only real time that it would matter is if you racked up a debt on the account and did not pay. In such case, the original creditor or a debt collector may have demanded payment and they now are claiming fraud of some kind.

Since the card was in their name and they allowed you to use it, I don't see that there was fraud, but that does not stop them from lying about it to avoid responsibility. If you did create a balance then you need to be responsible for that debt. This is on the credit of the person who allowed you to use the card.

If they are making noises about pressing criminal charges, then you need to speak to a criminal law attorney. There are financial identity crimes and having permission would tend to negate the offenses, but you need to be smart about this before you go and blurt out information to the police thinking naively that if you tell them the truth it will be ok and this will go away. In such case, say nothing to law enforcement and talk to a criminal attorney.
