Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina
Two years ago, I had a motorcycle policy with Nationwide Insurance. When I sold the bike, I called and canceled my policy. Then I started a new policy with them for the truck I bought. Later I switched companies, and called to cancel the truck policy.
Neither policy got canceled, and now I have $650.00 in collections affecting my credit. What can I do? I have contacted the collection agency and put the claims in dispute. They told me I need to call Nationwide and dispute it directly.
Am I responsible for the $650?

The problem here with your post is that you only called. Did you follow up your call with a written cancellation?
If not, Nationwide may have continued to issue you a policy and billed you for it.
Who was your agent? Are they still there? Did he or she make written confirmation of the cancellation for you? Will he or she go to bat for you?
You are going to have to take this up with Nationwide if they still own the debt.
