Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

In 2004 I downloaded an inappropriate picture of a teenager from the internet and also posted the picture to an Yahoo profile. After over a year of investigation and court appearances I plead guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor in 2006. The DA had made a comment to my lawyer to the effect that since this was such a hot topic that he felt that he had to prosecute to the fullest. I served two years supervised probation, completed the required sexual offender rehabilitation course and a year of private counseling. I am on the sexual offenders registry for at least ten years, will not be considered for a job, severely restricted as to where I can go. I feel that I have way more than paid for what I did. Is there any relief available?

At the end of ten years you can petition the court to be removed from the registry requirement, otherwise the registration requirement continues for 30 years under the current laws.
