Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

i got caught with a gram of weed and a hand scale my charges are possession of a controlled substance. i went to my first appearance and denied the public defender and decided to talk to the DA do you know what my options are

Get a lawyer. If you can't afford one, try to get the public defender after all. Don't talk with the D.A. without counsel if you can help it. Hopefully there's still time to change your mind.

Rejecting the P.D. and defending yourself may well have been the dumbest thing you have ever done -- except, perhaps, for speaking with the D.A. without a lawyer present.
