There is a difference between being charged and being convicted. Being convicted stays on your criminal record forever. You may be eligible to have it expunged but that doesn't exactly remove it completely and if you are concerned about employment, most applications for employment better than say a dish washer specifically ask about engagements so they are of very limited value. As to being chargd it depends how you were charged if you were formally arrested or indicted - that record ain't going nowhere ever unless the earth explodes. So again even if you do get a conviction expunged it's practically worthless because the charging record will likely still exist. So bottom line - you may be able to hide the incident a bit but if someone really wants to dig hard enough they can likely find out about it. Best of luck!
