Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

if my child stole a pair of reading glasses from a dollar store and the store did not catch him until 5 days after the incident what will happen my child is 14 years old and no prior convictions! we live in nc

As a child he will be treated as a juvenile which basically nothing of consequence will happen to him other than you and him being inconvenienced, lectured and him likely being banned from the store if he isn't already. But I have seriously got to know? If they didn't catch him at the time, how in the world did they catch him 5 days later? And more curiously out of all the things a 14 year old boy might steal - why a pair of reading glasses? If you do end up in juvenile Court expect these two questions to come up
