Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

Credit Card Fraud

My 32 year old son opened a credit card account using my name and social security number without my knowledge. He has not paid the $7500 debt and the credit card company is trying to collect from me. I told them I knew nothing about the card, did not make the charges and never signed anything. They have since turned the debt over to collections. Am I legally responsible for debt I did not make and had no knowledge about? They have told me my only option is to pay the debt or prosecute my son which I am not willing to do.

Re: Credit Card Fraud

Yep. That's about your only 2 options. Make your son pay.
