Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
My daughters boyfriend hit and vehicle and left the scene. He was driving her car and she is liable. What are my options?

It appears your daughter needs to be way more selective in who she chooses for a boyfriend. That's her problem and there's not much you can do about that except take some comfort that her bad choices are her responsibility and not necessarily a reflection on you or of your parenting. You can encourage her to help make sure he gets arrested (or even help with that yourself). While unreliable, it may be possible to get some restitution from him through criminal court. Otherwise, she will need to sue him civilly if he refuses to reimburse her. Of course, the kind of person who would hit and run in someone else's car, is very likely not going to have any non-exempt assets worth going after.
