1 Answer from Attorneys

Most of what you have said makes no sense, is inconsistent or sounds extremely entitled. For example, if you have an attorney, why are you not consulting with your attorney? if this were really a family matter to be worked out in the family, then why did you charge her with simple assault? You then seem to take great pains to portray your cousin in a very poor light as if that really has anything to do with whether or not either of you did what you are charged with. Further, now that you and your cousin have made the likely ridiculous decision to involve the court system, you seem to be complaining that things are not being handled expeditiously or otherwise to your liking, as if the court somehow answers to you or has some sort or obligation to make things convenient for you - I assure you, they do not. That about sum it up? That's a rhetorical question because of course that sums it up and sadly your situation is extremely 'typical'. So here's what I recommend based on what you have provided, don't take out petty criminal charges against family and discuss with your attorney the benefit of asking the ADA to dismiss the charges you filed if your cousin will dismiss the charges she filed. You sitting in court for 5 to 6 hours a month - that's likely the courts way of discouraging you from wasting their time with this type of petty crap in the future.
