How to Fire a court cppointed lawyer
If the lawyer is ignoring his client's wishes in a case, he could probably petition the court for a replacement. However, if the client simply disagrees with the lawyer's strategy or tactics in handling the case, the court will most likely ignore the client's desire for a new attorney.
Firing a court-appointed lawyer
Most judges perceive the right to a court-appointed lawyer does not mean the right to a lawyer of your choice. Sometimes judges will honor a defendant's request, but more likely than not, if you want to change lawyers, you'll have to hire one. Getting a new lawyer can happen though. The best bet would be to petition the court for a new one. You have nothing to lose...but your court-appointed lawyer.
