Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
My friend was recently caught with marijuana threw the mail. The police put him in handcuffs and took him to a facility, not the police station, or a sheriffs office. They told him that they wanted him to be a informant for them. They told him to call them back in 2 weeks with info. My friend doesn't want to be a snitch and he wants to know can they still charge him even tho, they didn't charge him on the day of, and that its two weeks later after the incident.

Of course they can. They offered him a deal and he didn't take it. If refusing a deal still prevented the authorities from filing charges, why would they ever offer anyone a deal?
