Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
my grandmother who is 63 was charged with simple assault because she hit me , this is her first charge. i want to drop charges but they said i cant until she goes to court & speak to the DA & judge . if they convict her can she go to jail ?

It is not at all likely that she would even be convicted if you request that the State drop the charges. But that is up to the prosecutor and not you. She will not receive and jail time for an offense this minor.
