Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

So I was being harrassed and hunted down into fighting the individiual drove to my families home and a few of my friends homes looking for me and me and one of my other friends were coming back from the store and he drove up and he cut us off right before we were about to pull into his neighborhood he got out of his vehicle and I got out of mine and he struck me in the face so we were fighting then my friend kept breaking it up and the other guy kept cheap shotting me with punches while we were trying to leave so I reacted out of self defense and I picked a little thin pipe off the ground and hit him on the forehead barely with a warning hit, and he left went to e.r. two hours later getting 1or 2 stitches at the most and filing a police report saying he was held down and beat multiple times with a crowbar but he has no damages that proof that and the state is still pushing for the charge and the other guy didn't even do anything and he's being charged for holding him down, even the photos and medical records prove that story incorrect, what do u think the outcome would be? I don't understand how 2 people can get in trouble for some crazy story without evidence
