Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
helping runaway
The police think that my daughter and myself helped hide a 15 year old runaway and now that she is back at home, they say that I knew where she was and I was going t be charged and my kids taking from me. My question is what can I do to stop that from happening?

Re: helping runaway
If the cops can show that you and your daughter both intentionally aided and abetted a minor from being located by parents/authorities, you both can be charged and convicted of a criminal offense. This is a pretty serious charge and I would advise you to consult with an attorney soon. Most attorneys will provide a 30 minute or even an hour free consultation. It is difficult to respond to your question with more precision due to the lack of details in your inquiry. If you would like to speak further about this, you can e-mail me at: [email protected]. Do not include a lot of details in your e-mail but give me a phone number where I can call you back. If not, I would advise that you speak to an attorney of your choosing BEFORE indictment or other problems arise.
Good luck,
Jim Griffin
