Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

My husband and i got into a arguement he pushed me and i hit the wall and it made a hole and i pushed him in the chest. We got arrested 48 hrs in jail and no contact order. We dont want to press charges but thestate picked up the case. He got assault on a female and i got simple assault. He has 2 possession of marajuana charges from when he was 17 i have no record. What can we expect to happen? Very nervous neither one of us wants to go to jail.

Both of you need to get attorneys, whether you hire one or get one appointed. Most counties in NC have what are called "no drop" policies for certian offenses such as assault on a female. Your case may have the opportunity to be dropped but it is unlikely his willa nd you both need representation to ensure you get the best result.
