Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

juvenile rights

my daughter received a drinking ticket when she was 15, paid the fine, did community service - she is now 19. Is this a sealed record? Can it have any affect on her future now that she is an adult?

Re: juvenile rights

Yes the prior conviction is now public record and will be counted as a prior crime in any subsequent criminal event she has. Juvenile records were sealed until about 7-8 years ago when they became open. And that means that everyone who previously thought their juvenile records were sealed is now surprised that they are not.

Good luck.

Re: juvenile rights

Yes, it's most likely sealed as a juvenile record

and very unlikely to have any future consequences.
