Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

I made a terrible mistake 10 years ago and I now have a class I felony conviction for embezzlement. I completed a drug monitoring program with the state board of nursing in 2005. Can I ever have my conviction reduced to a misdemeanor?

There is not a procedure under North Carolina Law to get this expunged unless you were under 18 at the time. There is not a set statutory way to get the Felony conviction reduced, however you may qualify for a motion for appropriate relief if you can qualify. This would be a motion to reopen the case, and try to set aside the conviction based upon a violation of your rights. You have to have the right fact pattern for this to be an option, and you need a good local defense attorney to work the case through the local court house. Contact a good attorney in the city where the conviction occurred and discuss the matter. It is a long shot, but not an impossibility.
