Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

I am a male and my male partner a male got into a confrntation and this led to a fist fight. The cops were called and we were arrested and got out on a $500.00 bond. we were charged with simple assault, both of us agreed to not press charges against one another. What will be the outcome of this incident? btw, we have never been in trouble with the law before.
