Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
I am in nc and had my license suspended years(30) ago for non alcohol related issues. I did 15 years later receive a dwi/dui and now even later, have received a dwlr after impaired revocation. My question is can I be convicted of latter charge even though my license was "originally" suspended 30 yrs ago and have never been reinstated, for non alcohol issue.

The short answer is yes. Simply because you were already suspended for non- alcohol related reasons when you got the DWI doesn't mean your continued driving and being caught afterward is not now an alcohol related suspension. It now most definitely is and so will every DWLR you get from here on out You may or may not do some jail time for this recent charge but for sure if you continue to drive while suspended, especially now that future DWLR's will be alcohol related, you will eventually do jail time. Your best bet is to stop driving and hire an experienced traffic law attorney to get you out of this mess. Best of luck!
