Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
I have an O.F.A. over an order to show cause for non-payment of child support. I am in arrears by about $5500.00 and have only recently found a good job. My son is 18 and just moved to S.C. but because he has failed to finish school they are still deducting.. My relationship has been rocky with the child support lady but the support has always been paid one way or the other though she refuses to work with me on any of these issues.I cannot afford to pay the arrears and I am afraid to tell them where I work and let them deduct in fear they will come arrest me. I also live out of state myself. What would be the best plan of action here? I cannot afford to pay a lawyer right now to handle the matter.

They are still deducting because of the arrearage you owe. Make sure it stops accruing as of the 18th birthday, and pay it off with consistent payments. You may be able to avoid jail that way.
