Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
I pressed charges against my boyfriend for stealing my checks and cashing them without permission. The bank has already reimbursed me. If I want to cancel any charges pressed, what happens to me? Do I pay the bank back?

The decision not to proceed with prosecution is not yours to make. The Assistant District Attorney assigned to the case will make that decision and may or may not take your wishes into consideration. Somebody reimbursing the Bank for their loss will most likely be a requirement for any possibility of a dismissal or plea bargain and will most likely be part of any probationary sentance if your boyfriend is convicted..
