Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
I purchased a four wheeler from my neighbor. I had a bill of sale wrote up. I recently decided to sell it because of a Gunshot wound I received in Afghanistan. The guy I sold it to had gotten into some trouble on it and the police checked the VIN. It came back stolen. I had also wrote up a bill of sale to the guy i sold it too. I didn't know it was stolen, or have any reason to believe it was because my neighbor is in his 60's. My neighbor who I purchased it from did not get a bill of sale when he bought it. Am I going to get into some type of trouble? The cops didn't contact me. What should i Do?

Probably not. If police do come to investigate you should say - nothing. By nothing - I mean nothing. Say absolutely nothing. I can not stress enough how absolutely important it is that you don't even say so much as hello. Just stand there and keep your mouth shut. If they have enough to charge you they will in which case you will post bond and hire an attorney. If not, they wil go away - amazed that you did not help them make a case against you.
