Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
I was just sentenced recently in a case and the judgement was that if i pay my fine and complete community service it is unsupervised probation from then. But my probation officer says its not so in the court papers and that its supervised probation for 12 months. What do i do?

The time to make sure a sentence is recorded properly is right there in the courtroom as it is being done. A sentence being handed down by a Judge and recorded incorrectly by the Court Clerk - happens A LOT! If this is what happened AND if you had an attorney - contact your attorney to have it fixed. If you didn't and represented yourself, you are for the most part out of luck because you will likely have zero idea how to go about having the judgment modified and even if I explained it to you in great detail, you still wouldn't be able to get it done and if you hire a new lawyer now, that lawyer has no way to verify what was said in Court and will have to rely on the Judge remembering what was said - and that ain't at all likely. Best of luck..
