Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
my tablet was stolen so I filed police report on it due to my boyfriend at the time said that it was the cable people that stole it, come to find out it was the boyfriend he sold it to a friend of his and he pawned it. The police office was no help so I went and talk to magistrate he filed misdemeanor lawrency on the boyfriend but wanted to know why the cop didnt file property by false pretense on the boyfriend, when I called the cop he told me that due to at the time he was my boyfriend that the law changes and they couldnt do that that the magistrate doesnt know what he is talking about. Is this true?
