Unaware and Confused

Interesting question since most of us just
see the trial and sentencing then the DOC takes it
from there.
Restoration of citizenship seems to be covered under NCGS 13-1
through 13-4. The statute says restoration
is automatic gives four conditions which may result
in automatic restoration then the agency having
supervision "shall" cause a certificate to be issued
and filed with clerk of court in county where
the person resides.
Good luck with the bureaucracy. You do the crime,
you do the time, then you should be back in
