Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina
A few weeks ago, I was at a Superbowl party and got into a fight with 3 other girls that I had just met that night.
My boyfriend and I had went upstairs to get our stuff and wait on my roommate to come and pick us up. He went outside to smoke, while I stayed on the steps to wait. The 3 girls in the kitchen apparently thought that I had walked out first because as soon as they saw him leave they immediately began talking about me. They said terrible things about me, especially since they had just met me that night. After a few minutes, I went to confront them about what they were saying. I asked how they could say such terrible things about someone they had only just met and knew absolutely nothing about. The one girl got in my face, and pushed me first. I turned to walk away and go outside, and the Second girl grabbed my hair and pulled me back. The first girl attempted to punch me in the face and hit my forehead. All the while, the Second girl still had a hold of my hair. In an attempt to defend myself, I retaliated. At that point, the Third girl charged me and pushed me down, and continued to sit on me, and pull my hair. The first girl kicked me once or twice, and at that point people in the garage came inside to break it up.
The ONLY people that were inside were us Four, and we were all involved in the fight.
Anyways, I am now being ordered to go to court in a month or so, because the First girl is saying that I am the one that turned violent and attacked her.
What I am asking is, What do you think the outcome is going to be, When its Three girl's word against mine. Even though they are the ones that attacked me, and I feel like I was only protecting myself.
