Worthless Check

I have received a summons on a worthless check charge. I did not evenknow this check had not cleared my account. If something was sent via mail I did not receive it. What are my options? I do not want this charge on my record

Re: Worthless Check

Depending on your District court judges, you "may" be able to ask for a prayer for judgement. I caution you doing this on your own though. Not that asking for a PJC is difficult, but some of the judges I deal with do not accept PJC from worthless checks charges, and other usually do it only when a client is represented by council.

When I have asked a judge why is it, they have hnited to me that with having to pay restitution, costs and attorney's fees, it is a solid lesson learned, versus someone writing a bad check and trying to beat the system.

I hope that makes sense.

Lastly it truly depends on the amount of the check and if you have any priors if you can get a PJC
